Here you go, folks. Any suggestions would be great. I plan to add the contour lines near the bike paths and alter the legend. I look forward to seeing your maps.
Hey-- I would enlarge the map portion to eliminate some of the blank background. The title could be bigger, too--it's smaller than the scale bars (nice graphic), but should be higher in overall hierarchy, thus, bigger.
I agree with previous commenters and I think the map appears to be hanging in space. It might help to include more actual map around it...you could lighten it up considerably or use only gray scale to keep the focus on your current 'clip'.
I like the color you've chosen for the hillshade but I would pick more contrasting colors for your bike routes...they blend in a lot with the hillshade.
The brown doesn't do anything for me. Too much brown, overall map is brown. Maybe you could incorperate some blue in the surrounding area. That's just me. My daughter has to buy my clothes for me.

Make map bigger. Maybe try portrait page layout. The 15,000 & 30,000 on the scale run together.
